Clubs within STARFLEET

Becoming a member of STARFLEET International allows you to join a local chapter, and it also offers members a wealth of resources that aren’t available in most other Star Trek or science fiction clubs. In addition to a great set of membership materials, discounted perks, and our regularly-published newsletter, the Communiqué, STARFLEET offers members the chance to get involved with a growing number of special organisations, called Auxiliaries that are clubs within the club, so to speak. While these are international in nature, many chapters have their own local representatives. New auxiliary clubs come into existence from time to time, and if there isn’t already one, why not start your own! This page lists just the clubs that have been given permanent status by STARFLEET Auxiliary Services.

All STARFLEET members can also take part in the STARFLEET Fandom Academy, which offers over a thousand free online courses on everything Star Trek, Science Fiction and Non-Fiction, with awards and certificates for completing exams and courses. New subjects and courses are being made available all the time, and you can even contribute your own!

STARFLEET Marine Corps

STARFLEET Marine Corps

Fictionally, the STARFLEET Marine Corps are part of the Ground Forces that are rarely seen in the episodes but are assumed to be a part of the Naval Fleet of the United Federation of Planets.

The SFMC has a different name for each rank within the promotional system, and a different organizational structure than the Naval portion of STARFLEET and members can wear distinctive dress uniforms. Members include veterans and active duty military as well as people who just prefer a ‘military flavour’ to their Star Trek fan activities. However, the SFMC does not have different requirements for membership, only that a STARFLEET Marine must be a member in good standing in STARFLEET. The SFMC is organized along traditional military lines, in the same manner as STARFLEET. However, instead of being organized along Navy lines, and using terms such as ‘Ships’ or ‘Shuttles’, the SFMC uses ground force equivalents such as ‘Brigades’ or ‘Strike Groups’. The SFMC also has it’s own Marine Corps Training Centre, in addition to STARFLEET Academy. You can find out more about SFMC in their FAQ and in their extensive document library.

Members of the SFMC are dedicated to the same principles as other members of STARFLEET, including community service and charity fund raising. However, because so many of our members identify with the real-world military, a significant amount of our focus is on organizations that associate with or assist military members, veterans and their families.

Like most other clubs within STARFLEET, the SFMC hold challenges, and have unique achievement, training, service, and unit awards, that can displayed as ribbons on dress uniforms.

The 20th Brigade

381 MEU HQ Region 20

Fictionally tracing it roots back to first Roman Legions who came to the shores of Britain in the first century AD, and our proud motto remains to this day “Legio Vicesimae Valeria Victri” (The Twentieth Legion, Valiant and Victorious). As Marines of the Twentieth Brigade we are members of STARFLEETt who also prefer a military flavour in our Star Trek activities, fictionally organised and represented as the Starfleet Marine Corps of the 24th Century.

Many Marines of the Brigade are attached to their own Units who serve as part of the military crew of their Chapter, and all our marines have varying interests, from serving the military in real life, as keen military historians or just for fun. Many of our Marines and our Units regularly take part in charity events; challenges set by the SFMC and take courses at the SFMC Academy.

STARFLEET Special Operations

STARFLEET Special Operations

STARFLEET Special Operations, also known as SpecOps or SFSO, is the elite branch of Starfleet, roughly analogous to Special Forces divisions

Although SFSO is seen to have close connections with the SFMC, any STARFLEET member can join. The SFSO Ribbon is the unique uniform identification item for members of STARFLEET Special Operations and identifies members of SFSO when they are wearing any Starfleet dress uniform.
SFSO provides special training through curated courses in the STARFLEET Fandom Academy, starting with Basic Training which has ten grades from Recruit to Senior Executive. After passing Grade 2 of basic training, trainees can apply to undertake Advanced Training to become members of one or more Alpha (Indirect Action), Beta (Special Reconnaissance), Gamma (Raiders), Delta (Direct Action), Epsilon (Intelligence), and Omega (Counter-Intelligence) teams. In addition trainees can undertake training to become Specialist Training in a wide variety of subjects such as Aerospace, Astronomy, Communications, Engineering, Flight Operations, Historian, Intelligence Analysis, Legal Affairs, Medical, Science, Sniper, Survival, VIP Protection, Weapons, and Xenology. The SFSO have unique training and qualification, and achievement and service awards that can displayed as ribbons on dress uniforms.

STARFLEET Corps of Engineers

The Corps of Engineers

“Making the impossible function!”

The mission of the STARFLEET Corps of Engineers is simple: to serve as an advisor, assist in production and act as a resource for the members throughout STARFLEET. We are the doers and makers of STARFLEET. Need a new logo for your ship? Talk to us. Looking for help with your chapter website? Talk to us. We have several departments that specialize in Graphics, 3D, and costuming, if you need it, talk to us.

Do you like doodling Trek starships or Klingon warbirds and making fascinating backstories for them, or do you prefer to model and render them in 3D programs? Are you wanting to make fleet websites and learn how to build and maintain those websites? Is your thing 3D printing phasers and other props and showing them off? Or are you more into making costumes and attending conventions? If any of these sound like a good time, the STARFLEET Corps of Engineers needs you! We are looking for crew that can do any of these things and more and who want to contribute to the SFI fleet at large.

Unlike other auxiliaries we don’t run challenges or offer awards. We are there to serve the fleet.
